Zazen
How to Meditate - A guide to zen meditation from the Stonewater Zen Sangha web site. This is a very helpful guide for beginners with illustrations and descriptions of the postures that can be used for zazen.
Dogen Zenji (1200-1253) was the founder of the Soto Zen School in Japan. Amongst his writings on zazen, one of the best known is Fukanzazengi (A Universal Recommendation of Zazen).
The original version of Fukanzazengi was written at Kenninji monastery in Kyoto in the autumn of 1227, shortly after Dogen had returned from a five year stay in China. During his time in China he had studied with a number of zen masters before receiving dharma transmission from Master Ju-ching at T'ien-t'ung monastery.
Your Zazen is the Zazen of the Buddhas - a dharma talk given by Taizan Maezumi Roshi at the Zen Center of Los Angeles on the 27th January 1989.
